Toddler Park Opens!!!!
Yesterday was a really special day as we officially opened the new toddler park—just in time for the Easter holidays.
It was lovely to see so many children, families and local groups come together to celebrate something that truly belongs to everyone. What began as ideas from our local school children has grown into a park shaped by families and brought to life by the whole community.
We’re incredibly grateful for the support from the village school, shop, the WI, and CADS, along with local fundraising and generous contributions from Cotswold Homes and Bromford.
Thanks also to Kompan for their design work and to the Parish Council for supporting the project from the start.
There was a real sense of excitement as the gates opened, with children eager to explore their new park.
As the park is newly completed, the ground will take a little time to settle, so please supervise children at all times. With it expected to be popular over Easter, we appreciate everyone’s patience and kindness in taking turns.
The long-term mission for the recreation-ground regeneration is to:
Create and maintain a rich natural environment where everyone, especially children and young people, can enjoy the outdoors, play freely and creatively with their peers and follow their interests.
Develop an inclusive, child-friendly, free, adventurous play space in the heart of Coaley where people of all ages and abilities can come and explore, create, build friendships and generally hang out.
The overall aim is to improve the well-being of residents of Coaley, especially children and young people, by developing and maintaining a safe, free, adventurous play environment by:
Developing a plan for playing field regeneration
Obtaining funding for the agreed improvements
Implementing the specified work under the authorization of Coaley Parish Council
We believe play and recreation are crucial to well-being. We aim to create an accessible and
varied play and recreational space, which will enhance the natural environment and benefit
the whole community to support the physical and mental health of all.
In aiming to create an intergenerational space with opportunities for all we recognise that, the
UN Convention on the Rights of the Child places particular emphasis on the rights of children
and states “every child has the right to play and rest” (article 31).
Here in Coaley we recognize the impacts of modern society may restrict children’s opportunity
to play freely outdoors. We therefore aim to recognize this right and ensure children have
opportunities, as enjoyed by previous generations, to have the freedom and independence to
decide when, where, who they play with. It is essential for children’s all-round development
and promotes positive well-being that can carry over into later life.
