A big thank you to everyone for coming along today and supporting the rec clean up! Due to your hard work we have transformed the rec for children and families to play this summer.Â
Everyone arrived equipped with their tools and worked so hard sweeping the park and removing the weeds, greasing the roundabout and clearing the car park and tennis courts, strimming the pump track, edging the multi games area, hanging a new basket ball net and painting the bus shelter. We achieved far more than I had thought was possible in a couple of hours.Â
It was really enjoyable to be out together in our beautiful village sharing a cup of tea and delicious cake in the sunshine. That is the Coaley community spirit!
The play area was swept and tidied and any remedial work needed on the existing equipment done.
These little bits of maintenance and looking after will ensure that the equipment we do have will last as long as it needs to while the new areas are being designed and installed.
The grass and edging of the pump track was tidied up with a strimmer which should now make it a lot easier and safer to use the pump track.
As well as this, the basketball court was swept, weeded and the grass edge tidied up.
The majority of the work on the tennis courts was cleaning the playing surface of all the weeds and loose stones that had been collecting on there.
As well as this, the bench was repaired to keep the free-to-use tennis and Pickleball equipment.
The field was litter picked, the parking areas were swept, the signs cleaned, and the large amount of remaining soil from the original pump track build has now been tidied up.
A few other photos of our happy volunteers and our hard days fun in the sun!
