Our Mission

The long-term mission for the recreation-ground regeneration is to:

The overall aim is to improve the well-being of residents of Coaley, especially children and young people, by developing and maintaining a safe, free, adventurous play environment by:

We did it!

We have hit our Spacehive funding target!!! Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the crowdfunding and ensured that we demonstrated community support for the project to make us eligible for Stroud District Council funding. Thanks especially to those 6 individuals as well as Deacon Groundworks and Monatrix (Paul Gillings) for those final pledges that rolled us over our target!

It’s not over yet-we will still be fundraising for future phases as well as for those extras that will always crop up with large projects like this. www.spacehive.com/crag if you’d like to join the party!

CRAG Values

Well-being

We believe play and recreation are crucial to well-being. We aim to create an accessible and

varied play and recreational space, which will enhance the natural environment and benefit

the whole community to support the physical and mental health of all.

Every child has the right to play and rest

In aiming to create an intergenerational space with opportunities for all we recognise that, the

UN Convention on the Rights of the Child places particular emphasis on the rights of children

and states “every child has the right to play and rest” (article 31).

Freedom and Independence

Here in Coaley we recognize the impacts of modern society may restrict children’s opportunity

to play freely outdoors. We therefore aim to recognize this right and ensure children have

opportunities, as enjoyed by previous generations, to have the freedom and independence to

decide when, where, who they play with. It is essential for children’s all-round development

and promotes positive well-being that can carry over into later life.
